He's now less than half a man
It seemed she thought she had
He's found out their life together was even worse than bad
But she can't look him in the heart she's broke
And speak the truth. It's time she left
And tried to love her someone new.

Yes, she's kind to him. She lied to him.
He knows all, but what he doesn't isn't hurtin' him
  What she's done in done
He's still number one
No he's not blind but she's still there so he don't mind.

He gets better as each day goes by. No new news
And she wonders if he's strong enough to hear from her the truth.
And he knows the day will come. Each day it don't, he's glad
'Cause right now, their life together doesn't seem so bad.

Yes she's kind to him. She lies to him.
He knows all, but what he doesn't isn't hurtin' him
She says what's done is done
You're still number one
No he's not blind, but she's still there so he don't mind.

I can't sell my mama short on loving me,
I guess that's why she let me go so far
Mama tried to stop me short of stealing
I guess that's why I had to steal that car,
She told me not to smoke it, but I did and it took  me far away
And I turned out to be the only hell my mama ever raised.

I road into Atlanta, stolen tags and almost out of gas,
I had to get some money, lately I learned how to get it fast
Those neon lights was calling me
And somehow I just had to get downtown,
So I reached into the glovebox,
Another liquor store went down.

And I said: precious memories, take me back to the good ol' days.
I can hear my mama singing "Rock of Ages" clept for me.
She tried to turn me on to Jesus, but I turned on to the devil's ways.
And I turned out to be the only hell my mama ever raised.

When they put those handcuffs on me, Lord I fought to resist,
But the agents clamped'em tighter 'til that metal bit into my wrists,
They took my belt and my billfold,
My fingerprints and the profile of my face,
Then they locked away the only hell my mama ever raised.

And I said: precious memories, take me back to the good ol' days.
I can hear my mama singing "Rock of Ages" clept for me.
She tried to turn me on to Jesus, but I turned on to the devil's ways.
And I turned out to be the only hell my mama ever raised.

Farewell Party
By Lawton Williams © Western Hills Music Inc.
Camelia
By Marty Robbins © Mariposa Music Inc./BMI

When the last breath of life is gone from my body
And my lips are as cold as the sea
When my friends gather 'round for my farewell party
Won't you pretend you loved me

There'll be flowers from those who cry when I go
And leave you in this world alone
I know you'll have fun at my farewell party
I know you'll be glad when I'm gone

Don't be mad at me for wanting to keep you
'Til my life on this old world is through
You'll be free at the end of my farewell party
But I'll go away loving you.

There'll be flowers from those who cry when I go
And leave you in this world alone
I know you'll have fun at my farewell party
I know you'll be glad when I'm gone

Oh, I know you'll be glad when I'm gone.

From where I stand I can see all the lights of the city
For one man to love one woman so much it's a pity
From where I stand I can see the cantina she goes to
Where she's not supposed to, but goes anyway.

From where I stand I can hear the music and laughter
Camelia keeps tellin' me that's all her young heart is after
I see it differently. I see her there with a man.
Camelia keeps lyin', and I see it from where I stand.

If there was one ounce of man left in me, I'd accuse her.
What's left of a man knows for certain if I do I will loose her
It wouldn't do to let her know I know she's lying
Or that I've been spying. She'd never come back.

Camelia I almost despise the ground that you walk on
The reason I don't is it's me, not the ground that you walk on
Constantly tormented, knowing you're just partly mine
Camelia I hate you and love you at the same time.

Cowboys Ain't Supposed To Cry

It's All Coming Back
By Pat James ©2005 Circle Cross Music LLC/BMI

Well I'm just a cowboy
On my way back to Houston
I used to play to rodeos
But I can't play'em like I used to
So I'm givin' it up. I'm layin' it down.
I've had enough of being a rodeo clown

So if you see a tear running down my face
Don't ask me why,
'cause cowboys ain't supposed to cry.

Well I'm just a drifter
On my way back from Denver
I kept'em laughin' from in my barrel
But now it seems too hard to handle
So I'm givin' it up. I'm layin' it down.
I've had enough of being a rodeo clown

So if you see a tear running down my face
Don't ask me why,
'cause cowboys ain't supposed to cry.

I just couldn't think of why she'd want to leave me.
My mind had wiped my conscience clean somehow.
Now that she's packed, my memory's back. Believe me.
I'm amazed that she'd put up with me 'til now.

It's all coming back to me now the she is leavin'.
I'd lived my heartless ways for much too long.
It's all coming back the lyin' and the cheatin'.
She's moved on. I wish my guilt had gone along.

I'm glad to hear she's found someone to love her.
The way she always wanted me to do.
I've found new love too, I think I make her happy
But I wonder did I jump in much too soon.

'Cause it's all coming back to me know.
Looks like we're even.
I'm in the loveless place that I belong.
I see the signs. She's lyin' and she's cheatin'.
I've got the hurtin' I've been deservin' all along.

What goes around's come back around to take any joy I've found
Oh, it's all coming back to me now.

Something

He Likes The Young Ladies
By Pat James ©2005 Circle Cross Mucis LLC/BMI

Something in the way she moves
Attracts me like no other lover.
Something in the way she woos me.

I don't want to leave her now
Lord you know I believe and how.

Somewhere in her smile she knows
That I don't need no other lover
Something in her style that shows me

I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how.

You're asking me will my love grow
I don't know, I don't know
You stick around and it may show
I don't know, I don't know

Something in the way she knows
And all I have to do is think of her
Something in the things she shows me.

I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how

You're asking me will my love grow
I don't know, I don't know
You stick around and it may show
I don't know, I don't know

Something in the way she knows
And all I have to do is think of her
Something in the things she shows me.

I don't want to leave her now
Lord you know I believe and how.

He's a honkytonkin' kind of man, and no one does like he can
Every head will turn whenever he walks in
He's a two steppin' son-of-a-gun.
he'll do a little schoolin' on having fun
If you're willing to learn, he'll show you how it's done.

And he likes the young ladies, they like him too.
He can't help that he's so charming. What's a guy like him to do?
So he'll play the hand life dealt him, 'til it's plain that he can't win
He likes the yound ladies, and they sill like him.

No, he can't find one good reason for slowin' it down
He's gonna keep the body movin' 'til he just can't get around

And he likes the young ladies, they like him too.
He can't help that he's so charming. What's a guy like him to do?
So he'll play the hand life dealt him, 'til it's plain that he can't win
He likes the yound ladies, and they sill like him.

Begging To You

I'm Gonna be A Cowboy
By Marty Robbins © Mariposa Music Inc/BMI

I left you this morning
Couldn't take any more
You laughed and you dared me
To walk out the door
You said that I'd come back
You knew what I'd do
And you know you were right
'Cause I'm back here tonight
Begging to you

I won't disappoint you
I'm beggin' to stay
That's what you wanted
To hear any way
It must make you happy
To make me so blue
What a pitiful sight I must be tonight
Begging to you

You don't want my loving
But you let me stay 'round
I guess just to walk on
So you won't touch the ground
To you it don't matter
What you cause me to do
As long as you keep me
Begging to you

I wanna the gallon stetson
And a horse that wears my brand
A thousand head of cattle
On a great big piece of land

I want a ranch in Arizona
Where they never sleep inside
I wanna gaze at the moon and stars above
I wanna learn to rope and ride

I want two pearled handle six guns
The kind that really shoot
A saddle trimmed with silver
And a pair of yellow boots

I'll have my name carved on my belt
I line my saddle see with a fell
I'm gonna be a cowboy, yes siree...

What In The World
By Pat James ©2005 Circle Cross Music LLC/BMI
I Needed You
By Bob Wills, Johnny Gimble © Dream City Music

Now I know it's my job as a singer
To pick you up when you're feeling blue
Lord knows I try, but it feels like a lie
When I'm feeling that way too.

What in the world does the world need to know
They've heard love your brother and respect your mother
And how love never ends it only grows
What in the world does the world need to know
I wish I could find some words in my mind
To help us lost, wandering souls.

I've searched for that song that would fill me
With life, love and spirit a new
Sometimes when you can't find the answer
You get lucky and the answer finds you.

What in the world does the world need to know
They've heard love your brother and respect your mother
And how love never ends it only grows
What in the world does the world need to know
I can't make the world better by arranging these letters
Just share what's in this one man' soul.

I needed you when I met you
You were just playing around
While I painted dreams of an everlasting love
You were just painting the town

Then when you said it was over
I found a heart good and true.
Now that it's too late you discover
You needed me like I needed you

I needed you when I met you
You were just playing around
While I painted dreams of an everlasting love
You were just painting the town

Then when you said it was over
I found a heart good and true.
Now that it's too late you discover
You needed me like I needed you

Man Walks Among Us

When the evenin' sun goes down
You will find me hangin' 'round
Oh, the night life ain't no good life
But it's my life

Many people just like me
Dreamin' of old used-to-be's
Oh, the night life ain't no good life
But it's my life

Listen to the blues they're playin'
Listen to what the blues are sayin'

Mine is just another scene
From the world of broken dreams
Oh, the night life ain't no good life
But it's my life

When the evenin' sun goes down
You will find me hangin' 'round
Oh, the night life ain't no good life
But it's my life

Many people just like me
Dreamin' of old used-to-be's
Oh, the night life ain't no good life
But it's my life

Listen to the blues they're playin'
Listen to what the blues are sayin'

Mine is just another scene
From the world of broken dreams
Oh, the night life ain't no good life
But it's my life...

Warm are the winds on the desert
A whirlwind is dancing around
I stop to survey all the beauty that's there
When a shadow moves out 'cross the ground
It's an eagle. It circles above me
And he screams to his friends on the hill
"Stay close together, move not a feather
Man walks among us, be still, be still.
Man walks among us, be still"

Everything hides but I see them
I've spotted an old mother quail
I look closer and see, looking right back at me
The eyes of a young cottontail
I see a coyote sneaking
As he crawls through the brush on the hill
And the eagle screams down "Stay close to the ground
Man walks among us, be still, be still.
Man walks among us, be still"

Twenty feet high in the side of a cactus
I see a hole where the butcher bird stays
If mortals could choose and if heaven should ask us
Here's where I'd want to spend all of my days
Soon will be gone all the desert
Cities will cover each hill
Today will just be a fond memory
"Man walks among us, be still, be still.
Man walks among us, be still"
